Trent Williams returned to practice on Thursday, but coach Jay Gruden said the starting left tackle was limited in what he can do and lumped him with several players whose status for Monday’s game against Seattle still remains uncertain.
Williams, who dislocated his right kneecap in the Redskins’ loss to the New York Giants on Sept. 25, was held out of the 90-minute practice the team had on Tuesday. With the next game occurring on a Monday, players were given Wednesday off.
Tight end Niles Paul was limited to a non-contact practice as he continues to recover from a concussion sustained in that game, which is another sign that he has passed all stages of the league’s protocol.
“He was just going through individual drills and stuff, and they’ll monitor him again today after practice and tomorrow,” Gruden said. “There’s just taking a slowly-but-surely step to make sure he’s OK.”
Fellow tight end Jordan Reed, who missed the last three games with a strained left hamstring, was also able to practice again on Thursday after doing so for the first time in three weeks on Tuesday.
Only cornerback Tracy Porter, who aggravated his strained right hamstring in the loss to the Giants, and strong safety Trenton Robinson, who was diagnosed with a high left ankle sprain following that game, were not able to participate in practice on Thursday and did not attend.
Left guard Shawn Lauvao (sprained right knee), inside linebacker Akeem Jordan (sprained left knee) and defensive end Kedric Golston (strained left groin) were also limited in practice, while defensive end Jason Hatcher (unspecified hamstring injury), wide receiver DeSean Jackson (separated left shoulder), outside linebacker Brian Orakpo (torn ligament in middle finger of left hand), nose tackle Chris Baker (unspecified shoulder injury) and defensive end Jarvis Jenkins (bruised ribs) were able to complete a full practice.
