A funeral home in Saginaw, Mich., has a new service for clients who can’t seem to get out of their cars to view and pay their last respects to the dead — a drive-through window option.
Paradise Funeral Chapel just started offering the service to patrons, mostly for those who have physical ailments and limitations that make it difficult to exit their vehicles, The Associated Press reported.
Ivan Phillips, the funeral home president, said he expects the service will probably rise in popularity when clients realize it’s not a gimmick.
Curtains on the window are set to automatically open when a car pulls up, AP reported. Those mourning then get three minutes to view the body, while music plays in the background.
Mr. Phillips said the drive-through option is scheduled so it doesn’t conflict with the inside services.
