Police in Connecticut have arrested and charged a man with second-degree breach of peace after he allegedly grabbed a mop from the hands of a hotel worker and went on an overly “aggressive mopping” spree.
Authorities said they were called to the Double Tree Hotel in Bristol over reports that a man, later identified as John Thornton, 30, approached a 27-year-old female employee and took her mop, CBS News reported. He then started to mop the floor, becoming more and more aggressive in the process — ultimately sweeping the wet mop over her shoes several times, police said.
The woman told Mr. Thornton to quit it, but he turned his back to her while mopping, forcing her into a corner of the room and bringing her to tears, police said.
Police said Mr. Thornton racked up an additional charge of second-degree threatening because he started shouting, threatening and cursing at law enforcement officials while they were driving him to the station, CBS News reported.
