Florida’s Democratic Party candidate for Florida’s 2nd district wants it on the record that she would oppose a Nancy Pelosi candidacy for House Speaker if it ever came to a vote.
Gwen Graham quickly said “I would not” during a debate with Rep. Steve Southerland when asked if she would back Ms. Pelosi, Politico reported Wednesday.
Ms. Graham added, “The leadership that we have today has become so polarizing and so politicized that I’m not blaming either of them, it’s just the reality.”
The event, which was held at the Donald L. Tucker Civic Center, also featured Ms. Graham’s attempt to distance herself from President Obama and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid.
“I am not Nancy Pelosi. Neither am I Barack Obama or Harry Reid. I am Gwen Graham. And I am going to go to Washington and represent this district so incredibly well, and represent all of the counties of this district,” the candidate said, Politico reported.
The two candidates are locked in the polls with three weeks to go before Election Day.
