Denver police warned parents to be watchful this Halloween via a local marijuana dispensary owner who said it’s nearly impossible to tell the difference between candy covered with hash oil and candy that’s safe for underage snackers.
Patrick Johnson, who owns Urban Dispensary, said in a video posted on the Denver Police Department’s YouTube page that about 30 percent of his gross sales come from marijuana-infused candy, The Washington Post reported.
“Once that candy dries, there’s really no way to tell the different between infused [candy] and candy that’s not infused,” Mr. Johnson said. “Some of these products are so similar to candy that’s been on the market that we’ve eaten as children that there’s really no way for a child or a parent or even an expert in the field, to tell you whether or not a product is infused or not.”
Mr. Johnson said marijuana-infused candy manufactures normally sell their product in bulk, so parents should toss anything in their kids’ candy bags that comes in packages that aren’t familiar, or that look like they’ve been tampered with.
