Two new polls give GOP Rep. Cory Gardner an edge in his bid to unseat incumbent Democratic Sen. Mark Udall in Colorado.

A SurveyUSA poll conducted Thursday through Sunday for the Denver Post gives Mr. Gardner a 2-point lead over Mr. Udall, 45 percent to 43 percent. The lead is within the poll’s margin of error of 4.1 percentage points, but signifies a turnaround from a poll last month that showed Mr. Udall with a 4-point lead.

A High Point University poll conducted by SurveyUSA also gives Mr. Gardner an edge, with 46 percent of likely voters opting for Mr. Gardner and 42 percent choosing Mr. Udall. That sample has a margin of error of 3.5 percentage points.

Mr. Gardner now has a 1.4-point lead in RealClearPolitics’ latest polling on the race. Earlier in the year, it looked to be outside the top tier in terms of competitive races, but a strong challenge from Mr. Gardner has expanded the map for the GOP in the party’s quest for the six seats it needs to net to retake control of the Senate.
