Coinbase, a company that facilitates the financial transaction of digital currencies — like Bitcoin — has hired a former staffer for Sen. Tom Carper, with expectations that he’s going to use his savvy of Capitol Hill to advance the industry.

John Collins, who used to work for the Mr. Carper — who headed up the Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee — will now head up government affairs at Coinbase, The Hill reported. The match seems made in Heaven. Mr. Carper’s committee used to lead Senate discussions on digital currencies — and Mr. Collins, meanwhile, served as the committee’s leading adviser on the issue, The Hill said.

“At Coinbase, John will engage with and educate public officials and lawmakers about Bitcoin, and help drive an informed discussion around public policy that protects consumers without stifling the incredible innovation we’re seeing at all levels across the bitcoin community,” the company said in a statement reported by The Hill.

Mr. Carper has previously said that the United States should take the lead in developing and furthering the digital currency market.
