OPINION:
Obamacare and the current administration’s negligible response to the Islamic State will result in many more deaths — primarily of those people President Obama seems to have decided are not important. Obamacare denies many people physician availability and services, and by not pre-empting the Islamic State, the result was thousands brutally killed and tens of thousands put in danger.
An aggressive effort to prevent Ebola deaths in Africa and other countries is important, but it is equally important to prevent tens of thousands of more lives from being lost by failure of the United States, the United Nations and others to respond to terrorist actions in Iraq, Syria and other countries.
The Islamic State was a known entity committed to using all means to dominate Syria and Iraq, and to kill those it declared enemies. It is astonishing that Pentagon spokesman Rear Adm. John Kirby said, “We have been watching them for a long time” and that our commander in chief did nothing. The Islamic State’s relentless advances in Syria and Iraq could have been stopped. Many retired military leaders and even former Secretary of Defense Leon E. Panetta said Mr. Obama should have acted two years ago. These Obama critics value life and put security for our country before political party loyalty.
The other issue is that the Islamic State’s recent advances were allowed when its tanks and supplies were completely exposed on open grounds, and Mr. Obama did not order an action to destroy this equipment when it was vulnerable.
Our military leadership and forces are capable of intervening and defeating the enemy, and they need to be in charge. By whatever means necessary, whether an act of Congress or by removing Mr. Obama, a change in leadership and policy is essential to prevent a catastrophe for us and the rest of the world.
