The search is on for a location to take care of the dog belonging to the nurse who was diagnosed over the weekend with Ebola, said Dr. David Lakey, commissioner of the Texas Department of State Health Services.
That contrasts with Spain, where a dog was euthanized after its owner was diagnosed with Ebola.
In the Texas case, the nurse’s identity hasn’t been released, but state officials said they are going to try to find a place where the dog can be kept while the nurse is treated.
There are no reported cases of Ebola spreading through contact with a dog, but research suggests it could be possible.
