Veteran quarterback Carson Palmer will start Sunday for the Arizona Cardinals against the Washington Redskins, according to multiple reports.
The Cardinals were coy all week about who their starter would be. Palmer was listed as questionable on the final injury report of the week because of a shoulder injury.
Cardinals backup Drew Stanton had been cleared to play at the end of the week after going through the league’s concussion protocol. Third-string quarterback Logan Thomas spent much of the week practicing with the top unit as the Cardinals tried to prepare for every scenario and were unsure about the health of Stanton and Palmer. The Redskins did the same.
“It’s hard (to prepare) because you’re not really sure (who the quarterback will be),” Redskins defensive coordinator Jim Haslett said earlier in the week. “Carson’s got a lot of skins on the wall. The young guy from Virginia Tech is a heck of an athlete and can throw the ball. Stanton’s a good football player. So, we’re not really sure who’s going to play. We’ve got our guys prepared for all three of them, but you can’t simulate all three in practice.”
Palmer has been in the league for 11 seasons and been named to two Pro Bowls.
