Inside linebacker Perry Riley and free safety Ryan Clark were each unable to practice again because of injury on Friday, calling into question their availability for the Washington Redskins’ game against the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday.
Both players were injured in the Redskins’ loss to Seattle on Monday and were listed as questionable on the injury report. Riley sprained the MCL in his left knee, while Clark sprained both of his ankles.
Riley, who was limping around the locker room on Friday, would be replaced by Will Compton at the jack linebacker spot. Trenton Robinson, who worked with the first-team defense all week despite a high left ankle sprain, would likely fill in for Clark.
“I’ve been waiting my whole life, you know what I mean?” Robinson said. “I got an opportunity earlier in the season to go out there, and that was a dream come true. Hopefully, Ryan’s ready to go. That’s my guy, so hopefully, he’s ready to go, but if not, this is what I’ve been training for and this is what I’ve been waiting for forever. If he’s not ready to go, I’ll step up and do what I’ve got to do.”
The Redskins also listed three other players as questionable for Sunday: Outside linebacker Brian Orakpo, who sprained his right ankle against the Seahawks; left tackle Trent Williams, who dislocated his right kneecap on Sept. 25 against the New York Giants; and tight end Jordan Reed, who is still recovering after straining his left hamstring in the opener at Houston on Sept. 7.
All three were limited in practice on Friday — though for Orakpo, it was an improvement after missing the previous two sessions entirely.
“I should be fine,” Orakpo said. “I should be ready to go. I was able to do a lot more today, but by Sunday, I should be good.”
Quarterback Robert Griffin III (dislocated left ankle) and cornerback Tracy Porter (strained right hamstring) were ruled out by the Redskins. The other seven players listed on the injury report — Robinson, defensive ends Jason Hatcher, Kedric Golston and Frank Kearse, left guard Shawn Lauvao, right tackle Tyler Polumbus and inside linebacker Akeem Jordan — were listed as probable and should play.
