Presumptive Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said he’s aware that Sen. Rand Paul hasn’t yet decided on a 2016 presidential run — but that if he does go for it, that’s OK by him.

“I don’t think he’s made a final decision on that,” Mr. McConnell told the Lexington Herald-Leader. “But he’ll be able to count on me. … I’m a big supporter of Rand Paul. We’ve developed a very tight relationship, and I’m for him.”

The early endorsement is a quid pro quo for Mr. Paul’s support of Mr. McConnell during his widely watched re-election campaign against challenger Alison Lundergan Grimes.
