A tea party group said they’re happy Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid was demoted with the wave of Republican elects Tuesday evening — but they’re not stopping there.

Next up, the Tea Party Express says — oust him.

The group is holding a “unity press conference” Thursday at the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas to outline its plans for the 2016 election.

“We fired him last night as Senate majority leader, now our focus is on retiring him once and for all,” Tea Party Express executive director Taylor Budowich told The Hill. “That’s what the Tea Party’s focus is going to be right out of the gate. We aren’t going to be sitting on our hands waiting for a race to come to us.”

The tough talk comes as Mr. Reid has vowed to keep his Democratic leadership position, despite his party’s huge Election Day losses.

The Tea Party Express spent more than $1 million trying to toss Mr. Reid in 2010, but candidate Sharron Angle lost her bid against him by almost six percentage points.
