A British girl, 7, born with an alcohol-related disorder is trying to sue her mother for the “crime of violence” because she drank vodka and beer daily while pregnant, her lawyers said.

The girl is asking the Court of Appeal in London to clear the way for her attorneys to sue, the Times of London reported.

The mother, 17 at the time of pregnancy, is not being named in order to protect the 7-year-old’s identity, the New York Post reported.

The girl’s attorneys argued in court that the mother’s drinking was “a noxious thing — a destructive thing,” and that it caused her ill health effects, namely, fetal alcohol spectrum disorder, the New York Post reported.

It’s not yet clear if the court will give her the thumbs-up to sue.

Legal minds say the court must first decide if the girl could be considered a “person” when the perceived injuries occurred, the New York Post said.

Just last December, the Upper Tribunal of the Administrative Appeals Chamber said that the unborn don’t qualify as people — though the girl’s attorneys are appealing that determination.
