CASPER, Wyo. (AP) - The National Park Service is offering a free online course for those who want to operate snowmobiles in Yellowstone National Park.

The Casper Star-Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/10xGBdX ) the course will be available to anyone who uses snowmobiles in the park under the new Non-commercially Guided Snowmobile Access Program.

The course focuses on rider safety and resource protection. Participants will learn how to plan a trip, operate snowmobiles in Yellowstone’s unique conditions and how to best share roadways with wildlife, among other topics. Certification will be valid for two years.
