Looks like Clay Aiken has come in second again.

Mr. Aiken, a Democrat, was unable to best incumbent Republican Rep. Renee Ellmers on Tuesday, The Associated Press reported.

The former American Idol contestant, 35, had shirked his reputation as a TV celebrity in the Tarheel State’s second district, but his business-like approach was not enough to unseat Ms. Ellmers, who has served in Congress in North Carolina since 2011 and was on track for a double-digit win Tuesday night.
