Matt Williams is one of three finalists for the National League Manager of the Year award.
He’s up against Giants manager Bruce Bochy and Pirates skipper Clint Hurdle for the honor, the Baseball Writers Association of America announced Tuesday. The winner will be revealed Nov. 11.
Voting takes into account only the regular season, as ballots from the panel of baseball writers were due before the playoffs began.
Williams led the Nationals to an NL-best 96-66 record in his rookie managerial campaign, but Washington lost to the eventual world champion San Francisco Giants in the NL Division Series.
On the American League side, the finalists are Buck Showalter of the Orioles, Ned Yost of the Royals and Mike Scioscia of the Angels.
