More than 200 passengers were evacuated from an American Airlines flight at John F. Kennedy International Airport on Sunday after officials received reports of a bomb threat.

“They told us to grab our luggage and get off,” passenger Jacob Rosenberg told the New York Daily News. “There were no details.”

Flight 67 from Barcelona landed at JFK at 12:01 p.m. and was met by authorities due to a “security concern,” a spokeswoman for American Airlines said.

The passengers were taken off the plane after waiting a half-hour on the tarmac, Mr. Rosenberg said. Members of the NYPD bomb squad and FDNY were on the scene, and the FBI had been notified, authorities said.

“American Airlines apologizes for any inconvenience this may have caused, however, the safety of our passengers and crew is our top priority,” the American Airlines spokeswoman said.

The threat may have come in the form of a phone call, a police source told a local CW affiliate.
