Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin issued a sharp rebuke to former presidential contender Mitt Romney for his comments suggesting the Republican Party would take amnesty-like action on immigration if they took over the Senate.
Mr. Romney said on Fox News Sunday that a GOP-controlled Senate would “secure the border,” then “deal with those who have come here illegally, and third, to make sure our immigration policies are open and transparent to many people who do want to come here illegally.”
Republicans would definitely send an immigration bill to President Obama “if we finally have someone besides Harry Reid sitting in the Senate,” he said.
Ms. Palin was quick to respond.
“Governor Romney is busy promoting some decent policies, perhaps that’s why he clearly hasn’t followed today’s races because every Republican is campaigning against amnesty and every Democrat gunning for the Senate is campaigning for it,” she told Breitbart. “With all due respect, Governor Romney is in never never land on this one.”
She also claimed “Obama’s unconstitutional executive amnesty will radically erode American society” and that Republican candidates for the Senate have been actively doing “everything in their power to stop Obama’s lawlessness, including his unjust amnesty.”
