PORTSMOUTH, Va. (AP) - Attendance at the Children’s Museum of Virginia is down 10 percent compared to 2013.
Museum figures show about 126,000 people visited the Portsmouth attraction from January to September. The museum had about 141,000 visitors during the same period in 2013.
Museum director Nancy Perry tells WAVY-TV (https://bit.ly/15DrFy1 ) that a number of factors could have contributed to the decline. They include new tolls on the Downtown and Midtown tunnels, tunnel closures, road construction and utility work in downtown Portsmouth.
Perry says she hopes to see a turnaround in 2015.
Virginia Beach resident Joan London tells WAVY that the tolls don’t stop her from visiting the museum.
