CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - The head of South Carolina’s tourism agency plans to stick around for Gov. Nikki Haley’s second term.

The Post and Courier of Charleston reported that Duane Parrish will serve another four years as head of the South Carolina Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism.

Parrish was appointed to lead the agency in 2010.

The newspaper said Haley’s office on Tuesday confirmed that Parrish will stay for Haley’s second term.

The announcement comes days after Parrish returned from a 10-day trip to India with Haley, who led a state delegation to promote South Carolina’s major industries, including tourism.

Parrish says he hopes to make the park system self-sufficient over the next four years. He says the agency already generates more than 90 percent of the revenue to run the park system.
