A British jihadi who once said during an interview with “60 Minutes” that he didn’t love his mother because she wasn’t Muslim — and who was arrested in September on alleged ties to a terrorist organization — has jumped his bail, skipped past U.K. authorities, and crossed into Islamic State-controlled territory.
Siddhartha Dhar, who was arrested on Sept. 25 but let out on bail with the condition he surrender his passport, is now taunting British authorities for allowing him to “breeze” into Syria, CBS News reported.
He wrote in a tweet, under his adopted Islam name of Abu Rumaysah: “What a shoddy security system Britain must have to allow me to breeze through Europe to the Islamic State,” CBS News reported.
He’s believed to have close ties to radical British cleric Anjem Chaudary, who’s run several Islamic groups in London that were banned by authorities.
British prosecutors think he fled to Paris just two days after he was arrested and released on bail.
“He failed to comply with the conditions to surrender his travel documents to police,” prosecutor Luke Ponte said, in The Mail. “It’s my understanding that he is no longer in the jurisdiction and that he is currently in Syria.”
