PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Forecasters say northwestern Rhode Island is expected to bear the brunt of a winter storm headed this way ahead of Thanksgiving.
The National Weather Service says the rain and snow is expected to begin Wednesday morning and change to all snow through the afternoon and continuing into Thursday morning. A winter storm watch has been posted for northwestern Providence and western Kent counties.
Anywhere from 6 to 10 inches could accumulate in the hardest hit areas. The snowfall totals are expected to vary greatly throughout southern New England.
Forecasters say the storm is expected to significantly affect holiday travel, and driving could be dangerous at times amid heavy snow.
