TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - The National Weather Service is encouraging New Jersey drivers to complete their Thanksgiving travels by 7 a.m. Wednesday, with up to 10 inches of snow forecast in some parts of the state on one of the busiest travel days of the year.
The weather forecast calls for 2 to 4 inches of snow in Mercer and Somerset counties, with 4 to 8 inches forecast farther north and as much as 10 inches in the northwest part of the state.
Here’s a closer look at Thanksgiving weekend travel, by the numbers, according to AAA and the New Jersey attorney general:
AUTOMOBILE TRAFFIC
-New Jersey - 1,036,829 (88.6 percent of all travelers), a 4.2 percent increase from 2013.
-Nationally - 41.28 million (89.1 percent of all travelers), 4.3 percent increase from 2013.
TRAIN, BUS, OR OTHER MODE
-New Jersey: 31,105 (2.7 percent of all travelers), a 4.6 percent increase from last year.
-Nationally: 1.476 million (3.2 percent of all travelers), a 4.3 percent increase from last Thanksgiving.
