HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - Gov. Dannel P. Malloy is urging Connecticut residents to complete their Thanksgiving travel early in order to avoid driving in the first snow storm of the season.

The governor said the worst of the storm is expected to hit the state between 2 p.m. and 11 p.m. on Wednesday, typically the busiest travel day of the year. Malloy suggested people travel to their holiday destinations on Tuesday, early Wednesday or Thanksgiving Day.

Department of Transportation Commissioner James Redeker (REHD’-eh-kur) said all equipment and personnel sent to help remove snow in Buffalo, New York, is back in Connecticut to help with the impending storm.

Additional state police will be on the roads until midnight, Dec. 1 for Operation Combined Accident Reduction Effort, conducting roving patrols and checkpoints to detect drunken drivers.
