State officials released photos Monday night showing Ferguson, Missouri, police officer Darren Wilson’s injuries from the fatal confrontation with Michael Brown that triggered weeks of demonstrations and charges of racism.
The release followed a decision Monday by a St. Louis County grand jury not to indict Officer Wilson on any charges in death, accepting his claim of self-defense and a policeman’s legitimate right to use deadly force.
District Attorney Bob McCullough said Monday that, according to witnesses, Brown had punched Officer Wilson. The photos, released as part of the grand jury report, showed some red swelling on the right side of his face and an abrasion on the back of his neck.
The photos were first released by CBS News.
