The troubling part about Nene’s plantar fascia injury goes beyond the injury itself. It’s that Nene would sit postgame in front of his locker encased in ice prior to the injury. Both knees and his ailing right shoulder were covered and cooled.

After leaving Saturday night’s game against the Milwaukee Bucks following just six minutes on the floor, the Wizards’ starting power forward may miss another game or two, according to Wizards coach Randy Wittman.

“I don’t anticipate this being a period of time,” Wittman told reporters Monday.

Nene went to see a doctor and did not practice Monday. He has missed games in the past because of plantar fasciitis in his left foot. This is an issue with his right foot.

In addition, small forward Otto Porter was not active for the game in Milwaukee because of hamstring tightness. Porter practiced Monday and is expected to play Tuesday night at home against the Atlanta Hawks.

“It’s one of those injuries you have see how it responds to work,” Wittman said. “He went hard (Monday), though. As long as there’s no soreness after the workout he had today, then he’ll probably be a go.”

The Wizards are 9-3 and atop the Eastern Conference’s Southeast Division early in the season.
