MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Minnesota motorists can expect more company on the roads around Thanksgiving due to low gas prices and an improving economy.

AAA is reporting that 41.3 million people will drive 50 miles or more from home during the upcoming holiday weekend that runs from Wednesday to Sunday. Traffic will be most congested Wednesday and slowly taper off as the weekend continues. But the roads will be busy again Sunday, when many motorists begin making the trip back home.

AAA says vehicle traffic is expected to reach its highest volume since 2007.

Although airport security is expected to move faster than last spring, a Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport spokesman suggests arriving two hours before departure with boarding passes printed at home.

The Star Tribune (https://strib.mn/1xMWx9D ) reports Metro Transit buses and light-rail trains will operate on the weekend/holiday schedule Thursday.
