Key Democrats are taking the threat of a lawsuit that’s plaguing President Obama due to his executive actions and turning it into a subtle money-maker, calling on fellow party members in a mass email to sign a petition or their leader could go to prison.

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee sent out an email with the subject line “Impeachment? Prison??? — Sign now, stand with President Obama.” And its text calls on Democrats to “have his back,” because he’s now “under attack,” WND.com reported.

“Republicans think this is their chance to destroy the president,” the email reads, WND.com reported. “They’re threatening lawsuits, shutdowns, impeachment? One Republican congressman even suggested President Obama be thrown in jail!”

The DCCC asks supporters to sign a petition in support of the president, saying the issue is “critical” and that despite what opponents say, “President Obama has achieved incredible progress for the United States.”

At least one politico says the DCCC is trying to use the Republican Party’s attempt to rein in Obama’s perceived unconstitutional overreach of executive power to raise money.

Joe Miller, former Alaskan Senate candidate, put on his blog, WND.com reported: “Apparently, members of the president’s party are facing some pretty serious heat over King Obama’s unconstitutional power grab this week. Appeals to the president’s support base seem to be growing in their hysteria. Given the fact that most Americans do no support Obama’s power grab, and even members of his own party disapprove, impeachment should be on the table. … The DCCC’s hysteria over impeachment and jail time is just a fundraising gimmick.
