Jonathan Gruber, a leading voice in the development of Obamacare who later credited the “stupidity of the American voter” with its passage, has now lost his second contracting gig — this time with North Carolina.

Mr. Gruber was supposed to study and report on a managed care program in North Carolina, using data from the Department of Health and Human Services. But he’s just lost that job — the second one in just a few days, The Hill reported.

“Gruber’s comment that it was all right to mislead people to get to a desired outcome that he favored led our auditors to determine he had at least the appearance of an independence impairment,” said Bill Holmes, a spokesman for the auditor’s office, explaining to WRAl why the Massachusetts Institute of Technology economist was fired.

Mr. Gruber had been hired by Vermont to help with the state’s health exchange, but was just fired this week over his controversial comments about the development of Obamacare. That contract was worth $450,000, some of which Mr. Gruber already collected.
