Former Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney appeared in a new campaign ad for U.S. Senate candidate Scott Brown, telling New Hampshire voters that a vote for Democratic Sen. Jeanne Shaheen is a vote for President Obama.
The ad, titled “New Direction,” features Mitt Romney talking directly into the camera and urging residents to vote Republican on Tuesday.
“This election is America’s last chance to pass judgment on President Obama’s record,” Mr. Romney says in the video, released by the Brown campaign. “He’s not on the ballot, but his biggest supporter in the Senate is: Jeanne Shaheen.”
“Scott Brown will lead us in a new direction with more jobs and renewed sense of pride and purpose. For a better future, join me in supporting Scott Brown for senate,” he concludes.
Mr. Brown has been giving Ms. Shaheen a much tougher challenge than Democrats had anticipated, though the incumbent leads by about 2.5 points in RealClearPolitics’ latest average of public polling on the race.
The Shaheen campaign released a radio ad on Friday with an endorsement from former President Bill Clinton. Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will also stump for Ms. Shaheen in New Hampshire on Sunday.
