LANSING, Mich. (AP) - Amtrak says it’s adding 18 trains in Michigan during the Thanksgiving holiday travel period.

Amtrak announced the additions Saturday in Lansing. The passenger rail system says it will run every available rail car during what it says is the busiest travel period of the year.

The 18 extra trains will operate on the Wolverine line, which runs between Chicago and the university campus communities of Ann Arbor and Kalamazoo. Ann Arbor is home to the University of Michigan and Kalamazoo to Western Michigan University.

Amtrak says it’s a good idea for travelers to make online reservations early to assure they get space on the trains.
