Indiana Gov. Mike Pence, a former congressman and favorite among many hard-line conservatives, said Tuesday a decision on a possible presidential run is likely to come sometime in the spring.

Mr. Pence said that he’s currently focused on Indiana and is “taking steps” to run for re-election, and that he’ll probably make a decision on the future sometime in the spring.

“I’m always flattered to be mentioned for the highest office in the land, but we’re going to stay focused on a growing economy here in Indiana,” he said on “Fox and Friends.” “With a long session of our legislature up ahead, with lots of opportunities to build on the momentum we have here in Indiana, I’m going to stay focused on the future of the people of our state, and we’ll let my future take care of itself.”

During the 2012 election cycle, many in the Republican party had urged another Hoosier, former Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels, to enter the contest for the GOP presidential nomination, but Mr. Daniels ultimately announced in May 2011 that he would not run.
