Donald Trump said Monday that he’s weighing his options for a possible presidential run, claiming he’d be a “great president” who wouldn’t “rip off” the American people.
“I may surprise you,” he told the hosts of Fox News’ “Fox & Friends” when asked if he was considering a run. “I’m going to look at it. I’m going to look at who’s running.”
Mr. Trump suggested that he might not be able to continue appearing on the show every Monday. Fox traditionally cancels the contract of contributors who are considering running for political office, The Hill reported.
“If I decide to run, I think I will be a great president and the United States will not be ripped off anymore,” Mr. Trump added.
The real estate mogul has made a long habit of creating buzz over his political ambitions, The Hill notes. He repeatedly flirted with the idea of challenging President Obama for the White House in 2012 election, and did the same in 2000 when he said he was considering a presidential run as a third-party candidate.
Mr. Trump didn’t seem to mind the speculation he created Monday. He retweeted several messages that vowed their support to his campaign.
