House Speaker John Boehner is reportedly mulling the politics and feasibility of adding immigration to the mix of a proposed federal lawsuit against President Obama.

Mr. Boehner made the comments during discussion with key Republicans about Mr. Obama’s vow to grant amnesty to millions of illegals, without congressional approval, The Washington Post reported.

GOP leaders also talked about filing a separate lawsuit on Mr. Obama’s immigration order, in lieu of expanding on the existing proposed suit, The Post said.

Several Republicans who were part of the discussion said leadership would only take such legal action after consulting with rank-and-file congressional members, The Post reported.

Mr. Boehner announced a lawsuit over Mr. Obama’s many executive grabs a few months ago. Since then, it’s been put on the back burner.

The Post reported that it’s been a tough climb for Republicans to find a law firm in the Washington, D.C., area that’s willing to take on the case. But some insiders now suggest that Mr. Boehner’s been stalling the suit on purpose because he wanted to add in immigration, if Mr. Obama does choose that executive order route.

Mr. Obama, meanwhile, has pretty much yawned at the court threat.

“I’m not going to apologize for trying to do something while they’re doing nothing,” he said during an ABC News interview following Mr. Boehner’s threat of suit. “The suit is a stunt.”
