A North Carolina mom turned to the media to express outrage at a worksheet distributed at her son’s Union County high school that outright suggested Muslims have stronger religious beliefs than Christians.
The mother, who didn’t want her name used, showed WJYZ-TV the worksheet and said the one sentence that bothered her the most read: “Most Muslims’ faith is stronger than the average Christian.”
The history worksheet also included several other statements that the mother found offensive, The Blaze reported.
Another example: “Islam, at heart, is a peaceful religion,” The Blaze said.
The worksheet was set up as a fill-in-the-blank document, and the student, in the the two examples above, wrote in the phrase “faith is stronger” and “peaceful religion.” But those answers scored the student a 100 percent on the assignment, The Blaze said.
Moreover, Porter Ridge High School officials have not disputed the worksheet’s content and answers, The Blaze said.
“I really feel there is a spin on this,” the mother told WJYZ-TV.
And she’s not alone in that assessment. Even a spokesman with the Islamic Center for Charlotte said to the same news outlet that schools shouldn’t teach that the faith of Muslims is automatically stronger than that of Christians.
