The name “Hadeed” has been long associated with the meticulous care of fine rugs and carpets at a 70,000 square-foot facility in Virginia. The site takes on a new function on Saturday, however. Charity-minded CEO and president Joe Hadeed has invited the public in to tour his big shop, and bring along a little something for children who could use cheer - and a sense that someone cares.
“This is a toy drive to benefit Childhelp, a non-profit organization devoted to abused and neglected children. This is a cause that my wife and I really care so much about, and in the month where we express gratitude on Thanksgiving Day, it’s time to give back to the community,” Mr. Hadeed says.
“We’ve done a coat drive for the past 10 years. This time, it’s a toy drive, with an expanded wish list. We are hoping for unwrapped, new toys - as well as school supplies and gift cards,” he continues. “Everybody can make a difference here.”
Also on the cheerful agenda for visitors: free pizza, drinks and other goodies. The event lasts from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday. The Hadeed facility is located at 6628 Electronic Drive in Springfield (703/836-1111)
