RadioShack is walking back its plans to stay open all day on Thanksgiving after backlash from employees and the public.

The struggling electronics chain had previously planned to open from 8 a.m. to midnight, but will now close between noon and 5 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day, Bloomberg reported.

“We understand the long operating hours posed potential issues with personal scheduling,” CEO Joe Magnacca said in a memo obtained by Bloomberg. “Therefore, we have created an adjusted schedule that will eliminate that concern and still capture the opportunity in the marketplace.”

Macy’s, J.C. Penney and Target are among the stores that plan on opening earlier this year. Wal-Mart will stage what it calls a “New Black Friday” event, spanning over five days that begins Thanksgiving Day, Bloomberg reported.

RadioShack employees posted comments on an internal message board complaining about opening on Thanksgiving. Some have even resigned, a manager told Bloomberg.
