Google’s DoubleClick ad server has gone down, and publishing outfits around the world millions of dollars.

Among the affected sites: Forbes, The Wall Street Journal, BBC.com, Mashable and Business Insider.

The glitch means websites the world over that use the Google system are slow-loading, or not loading at all, Business Insider said. Those that do load are experiencing difficulties with their advertisements — with most failing to load.

Google DoubleClick’s issues comes just a few weeks after researchers at Malwarebytes found the server had inadvertently exposed millions of users around the world to malware.

Google said that particular problem had been fixed.

Google has not stated the cause of the current outage.
