A Hawaii home was burned up and destroyed by a stop-and-go lava flow from the Kilauea volcano.

Nobody was injured because residents — warned of the looming disaster by the U.S. Geological Survey and other watchdog organizations — had fled days ago with their belongings, CNN reported.

“The lava spread out and ignited the house before noon local time,” said USGS spokeswoman Janet Baab in the CNN report. “There are no other homes in imminent danger. We are watching the flow closely and continue to monitor it.”

Residents are completely vulnerable to the 2,000 degree Fahrenheit lava flow that has been crawling in a stop-and-go pattern toward the town since late June.

Kilauea has been on the active volcano list since 1983.
