Talk radio giant Glenn Beck said on a recent broadcast that he’s suffered from an ailment for the last five years that’s bluntly, made him “look crazy,” and that’s completely confounded the medical community.

The ailment — now diagnosed as some sort of autoimmune disorder and adrenal fatigue — seems in recession, he told his audience at TheBlaze.

Mr. Beck said that he’s suffered an affliction for years that’s left his hands, feet, arms and legs feeling “like someone had just crushed them or set them on fire or pushed broken glass into my feet,” Mediaite reported. He’s also suffered from serious sleep deprivation and has only managed to grab a couple hours of shut-eye each night — though he’s said he’s rarely tired.

“The doctors tell me that up until recently, I haven’t really had any real REM sleep in maybe as much as a decade,” he said, Mediaite reported.

After a time, Mr. Beck also started losing memory — including the ability to recall names, faces and entire conversations. Symptoms slowly worsened and morphed into “seizure-like” episodes, he said.

“Most afternoons, my hands will start to shake or my hands and feet will curl up,” he said, Mediaite reported. “When it gets real bad, my friends try to uncurl me.”

Mr. Beck said that doctors gave him a traumatic brain injury test, but that his results were in the bottom 10 percent of normalcy. Doctors also predicted that within 10 years, he would not be able to function and advised him to take a year off work, Mediaite reported.

Mr. Beck refused and instead underwent hormone therapy, “electric stimulation” and other treatments, and now feels better, due in part to his “faith in God,” he said on his broadcast.
