A Boston man has turned himself into police after surveillance video captured him witnessing a woman get killed by a subway train and then swiping her cell phone.

Surveillance footage at Boston’s Downtown Crossing station Thursday evening shows a young man cover his face in shock as a woman is killed by an oncoming train right in front of him.

The man continues to feign shock as he looks down and places his foot on top of a cell phone in an orange case. Police said the phone had flown out of the victim’s purse and landed on the platform, The Daily Mail reported.

Video shows the man take a quick look around to make sure the coast is clear. He then reaches down, quickly picks the phone up and slides it into his right pocket before walking away.

“Ninety-nine percent of all of the other people were concerned about what happened, running to the end of the train to see if they could help,” Lt. Richard Sullivan told the Boston Globe. “This gentleman had a different idea.”

Boston transit police announced Saturday morning that Josue Gonzalez, 26, turned himself in after police asked the public to help track him down, The Blaze reported. He is expected to be arraigned Monday at the Boston Municipal Court-Central Division for larceny.
