NEW YORK (AP) - A US Airways jet returned to New York’s LaGuardia Airport after the pilot reported striking a bird after takeoff.

The Federal Aviation Administration says Flight 2191 landed safely around 7 p.m., Friday.

US Airways says the Airbus A319 had 96 passengers and 5 crew members aboard and was headed to National Airport near Washington D.C.

The airline says passengers were being booked on other flights.

The FAA says it’s investigating. It’s the second bird strike this week involving a LaGuardia flight.

A United jet en route from Chicago struck a bird before landing safely at the airport Wednesday morning.
