ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - A woman suspected of an Anchorage stabbing has been taken into custody.

KTUU-TV (https://bit.ly/1mH5E8n) reports 21-year-old Sharae Maynard was arrested and charged with felony assault.

Police spokeswoman Jennifer Castro says a tip from the public led to the arrest Tuesday at a hotel on 36th Avenue.

Maynard was sought on a warrant.

A woman told police Maynard owed her money. She said they got into a fight in east Anchorage and that Maynard stabbed her.

The woman suffered a stab wound to her abdomen and underwent surgery.

Castro says the surgery was successful.
