GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) - The wife of a South Carolina Highway Patrol trooper has been convicted of setting her house on fire and lying to police.
Attorney General Alan Wilson said Paula L. Rose was convicted of arson, filing a false police report and two counts of insurance fraud.
WYFF-TV reported (https://bit.ly/1j3lRCk) Rose was sentenced Thursday to five years of house arrest and five years of probation.
The fire occurred July 17, 2012.
Greenville County Sheriff’s deputies say Rose is the wife of Highway Patrol trooper Homer Rose III. He was not at home at the time of the fire.
Deputies say Paula Rose called and reported three men were inside her garage trying to get into her gun safe. She said she later saw her house was on fire.
