NEW YORK (AP) - New York Police Department Commissioner William Bratton says he’s headed to Israel to be a keynote speaker at a conference on crime.

Bratton said at police headquarters in Manhattan on Friday he’ll also be at the unveiling of a 9/11 memorial. It will be attended by families of victims who perished in the terrorist attacks.

NYPD counterterrorism official John Miller will join him on the trip. They’ll meet with high-ranking officials in law enforcement and intelligence.

Bratton said an NYPD liaison officer stationed in Israel has coordinated the trip.

Bratton was scheduled to leave Friday evening. He’ll return Wednesday.

A previously scheduled trip to Jordan won’t take place due to the arrival of the president in New York next week.
