CASPER, Wyo. (AP) - A Wyoming man who pleaded guilty to shooting another man outside a bar has been sentenced to 60 years to life in prison.

Twenty-one-year-old Samuel Renner was sentenced Thursday for the 2013 shooting of Todd Callies in Evansville outside Casper.

The Casper Star-Tribune reports (https://tinyurl.com/l6e6y7b ) Renner pleaded guilty in January to second-degree murder and other charges.

Police say Renner had been in a fight at the bar earlier, returned with two handguns and scuffled with another group including Callies.

Callies’ relatives gave emotional testimony about how devastating the slaying was to them.

Renner wept as he apologized to Callies’ family in the courtroom. His attorney and a defense witness said Renner had a substance-abuse problem and suffered five concussions.

The judge said Renner had opportunities to address those problems earlier.
