HONOLULU (AP) - The organizers of the Memorial Day lantern floating ceremony at Ala Moana Beach Park are inviting the public to submit remembrances prior to the event.

Shinnyo-en Hawaii and the Na Lei Aloha Foundation said Thursday remembrances received before the ceremony will be placed on collective lanterns set afloat by volunteers.

Handwritten remembrance forms for the collective lanterns will be available at the Shinnyo-en Hawaii temple on Beretania Street. Forms may also be found at the lantern request test on Memorial Day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Remembrances may be submitted online at www.lanternfloatinghawaii.com.

Individual lanterns will be available at the lantern request tent on the day of the ceremony. Lanterns will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis through 5 p.m. or until they run out.
