Majority Leader Harry Reid, Nevada Democrat, said Friday that all wealthy donors to the GOP should not be condemned the same way the Koch brothers should be.
“These are the two richest people in the world, and they are in it to make money, that’s their whole goal here, to add zeros to their billions,” Mr. Reid said on MSNBC’s “The Daily Rundown.” “Sheldon Adelson, don’t pick on him, he’s not in this to make money.”
Mr. Adelson, a casino owner and businessman, is donating based on his ideology and principles, not to benefit his bank account, Mr. Reid said.
Despite heavy spending in the right, Mr. Reid said Democrats continue to do well and “stay above the water level” in Senate races.
“We’re doing well in every race despite spending by the Koch brothers,” he said.
He also noted that Democrats are doing a good job registering a lot of people to vote in North Carolina, Louisiana and Arkansas — three key states Democrats will have to win if they are to keep the Senate next year.
