HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) - A funeral for former state Banking Superintendent Zack Thompson of Huntsville is scheduled Monday.

Thompson died Tuesday. He was 82.

Thompson had a long career with NASA, including working on the Saturn moon launch vehicle, before retiring and being appointed state banking superintendent by Gov. Guy Hunt. He served more than six years in the post. He was active in Optimist International, including serving as lieutenant governor and governor of the Alabama-Mississippi District.

Laughlin Service Funeral Home announced that the visitation will be at noon Monday and the funeral at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Huntsville. Burial will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery.
